The Scottish SPCA held a Moggy Doggy competition this summer and we displayed the entries in our arena for 2 months.

The launch of the gallery & the SSPCA Rehoming Board was a great day; SSPCA microchiped 43 dogs, provided fun educational activities, Wizard of Paws had promotional offers, freebees, a raflle & refreshments.
We raised £570 for the SSPCA and had a really fun day for all the family & their dog!

The Evening Times Pet Idol Competition took place again this year and received a tremendous response. There were some great photos of all sorts of pets.
Wizard of Paws donated prizes for the 3 of the winning dog categories:

Overall Winning Dog - labradoodle Flynn, pictured, will receive one year's free grooming at the Wizard of Paws Groom Room
Rescue Dogs - Popcorn and Trifle will receive a Wizard of Paws Doggy Goody Bag
Young Handler Winner - Hekctor will also receive a Wizard of Paws Doggy Goody Bag

Kiki, the winner of Scruff Idol came for a make-over at Wizard of Paws. The groom team took a few hours to transform the adorable Tibetan Terrier from scruff to lady!

BBC Radio Scotland came to visit us to record a live feature on the MacAulay and Co show
Their ‘Roving Reporter‘, Richard Cadey, tried his hand at bathing a dog. We had a great giggle helping Richard wash Daisy, a beautiful Old English Sheepdog and reporting back to the studio on how they both coped with the experience! End result was a very wet reporter and slightly bemused dog!!

BBC Radio Scotland invited us back on the MacAulay and Co show this time to talk to Fred and his team about destructive behaviour in dogs following the story of Elvis Presley’s teddy bear being eaten by a guard dog. Our trainer, Gill and her dog, Willo, offered some invaluable advice to any dogs that were listening in.

More recently we've been back on the show discussing the idea that dogs find yawning contagious and will yawn in response to humans yawning! Willo was disproving that theory on the day and was more interested it playing than yawning!!

We also were asked on air to discuss our views on the play that was written and performed for a canine audience, honestly, at the Glasgow West End Festival - Who Stole My Sausage. It was actually a great event and proved very successful with the dogs!

We also assisted a magician on the show who worked with our dog to perform a card trick - afterall we are the Wizard of Paws!!

Along with a Washington Political Correspondent we talked with Fred on his show about which breed of dog Obama should select for his daughters, following his promise of a puppy if he was elected as President. A big decision for any family.

blue peter (pollok park) with wizard of pawsCanine Concern Scotland held a sponsored walk and Dog Show in April and we donated prizes to all Therapet dogs. Could your dog be a therapet?

Did you come and visit our stall at ‘Bark in The Park‘ in May. We had a great day at Pollok Park in Glasgow meeting lots of dogs and owners, telling them all about Wizard of Paws and selling our fabulous Pick ‘n’ Mix doggy biscuits.

We gave away over 800 balloons at the Pollok Park Family Day in August - there were pink Wizard of Paws balloons floating everywhere. Our stall was selling a range of goodies; pick ‘n’ mix biscuits, shampoos, bowls, doggy t shirts, bandanas, collars, leads, beds, toys and lots of treats.
We all had a great day and if you popped over to see us, it was great to meet you and your pooch.

The Glasgow Vet School held a Doggy Dawdle on Sunday 10th September.
We offered prizes for all dogs that took part in the sponsored walk and goody bags for winners of some fun categories. Well done to all dogs and owners who join in the fun.
