 | | In the Groom Room | | | Peter heads up the groom room and in his role as co director is involved in all parts of the business.
Peter has always had dogs when growing up and his interest in canine behaviour was kick started with a rescued Staffie, Buster. He has been studying behaviour for over 16 years, but admits he has still to apply his knowledge to his 8 year old Kerry Blue Terrier, Stella and Miniature Bull Terrier Reggie!! He has worked as a groomer for the last 9 years and used his knowledge and experience to design and plan the concept of Wizard of Paws.
Sheila is a calming influence in the groom room. Sheila is very 'natural' with the dogs and never phased no matter what shape or size as long as it is canine. She loves her job and the feeling appears to be mutual from the dogs she grooms.
Fonchea (pictured wearing Wizard of Paws corporate coloured ribbons!). She is very patient with the dogs she grooms and can't resist cuddles for each of her canine clients! Fonchea manages the groomer's diaries and mentors our trainees.
Both girls liaise with dog owners to discuss their requirements and wishes.

 | | Dog Shop & Self Service Team | | | As a dog lover Maureen literally landed on her paws when the opportunity came along to get involved with a whole new career especially one which enabled her to bring her beloved Wheaten Terrier, Saffi to work. With 30 years experience in the retail trade she brought with her a great wealth of knowledge to set up one of Scotland’s biggest and exciting Dog Shops.
As Co Director of the business, she manages every dog and owner’s needs in the running of both the retail area and the self service dog washing complexes.
Janice is a key member of the team. She has worked with Maureen for 8 years. Her role is to ensure the place is kept ship shape ready for our canine pals and assisting in the dog shop.
Bringing with her a retail background is Angie, she loves dogs and working with people. With a young family she juggles working part time in our shop and self service baths - always with a smile! |

 | | In the Training School | | | Gill has had a passion for dogs all her life and currently owns a scruffy Bearded Collie called Willo. She trained and qualified as a dog trainer 8 years ago and ran her own pet care business before joining Wizard of Paws. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, member no. 00887 and working towards accredited membership of the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour Gill has been working closely with Strathclyde Police Dog Branch over the past couple of years, sharing training practices and experiences. She is also a member of the Animal Welfare Lay Visitors Scheme working with the local vets and rehoming centres to ensure welfare is always paramount.Gill and Willo run training classes, workshops and one to one training sessions.
Gill also finds herself co-ordinating ‘public relations’ and getting roped into organizing promotional activities – she loves it - especially if it involves dogs!!
Alasdair Bunyan started training dogs in 1991. He became an associate member of John Rogerson’s “Pet Behaviour Institute” in 1994 dealing with many different training and behaviour problems.
Alasdair began training dogs for Working Trials in 1991, competing at the highest level with a Lab/GSD cross called Joss. Alasdair retired Joss in 1995 due to back problems and started to work a Border Collie called Torrin. Torrin and Alasdair competed at the highest level and were invited to enter the “Scottish Working Trial Dog of the Year” on two occasions by the SKC in which Scotland’s 10 best handlers and dogs compete, achieving 2nd place in both competitions.
In 1995 he began to advise and assist with problem dog’s for the Dog’s Trust and in 2002 he re homed a young Working Sheepdog (Rhu) from the Dog’s Trust with aggression problems. This then became the focus for his behavioural work and has now trained and re-homed several aggressive dogs, 2 of which he kept.
He has run and advised at several different training and breed clubs across the country and we are delighted he has now joined our team as a trainer and behaviour adviser. |
